Sendhwa is a city with a municipal government in Barwani district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the headquarters for Sendhwa Tehsil, and, as of 2011, was the largest town in the district. The name Sendhwa was derived after the rulers Sendhaw (सेंधव) at period of holkars.
It is well known for its huge cotton production and cotton mills. Sendhwa is also famous for its sites of historical interest, notably a black stone fort dating from the 16th century which has four main entrances, marking the four points of the compass. At the South door there is a temple complex, and therefore this is considered to be the main entrance. Another point of interest in the area is Bijasan Tekri, which is 15 km from Sendhwa and located at the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Sendhwa is located 59 km away from district headquarter. Some of the important monuments like the Rajrajeshwar and Gaytri temples are located inside the Sendhwa fort.
